Okay, the new year is approaching, so I know you all have seen these kind of posts on Facebook:
“New Year, New Me”
“2000-3000 will be my year”
Am I the only one who gets irritated by this?
Mainly because these are the same people that say the same thing EVERY year. I am all for positive changes and creating a better life for yourself. But if you keep repeating yourself every year, that means there is something you are not doing. There is something you are not following through with. Don’t you ever get tired of repeating the same thing? As a mother and I want to pull my hair out when I have to repeat myself multiple times.
And when I am fed up, the momster comes out and I’m looking like the crazy one. Anyways. . .
These are some of the common ones I see:
“Oh, I’m gonna reach my goal weight this year and eat right”
But only spend a month and some change in the gym or doing a program and slack off. Let’s not mention that regret that happens when you review the year.
“Oh, I’m not going to feed into drama this year”
But you post statuses about people igniting the fire even more. And causing more drama that could have been prevented.
I could probably go on and on.
*Disclaimer: This is not to say that I have never posted a status like this before. I have, but I was younger. As I grew older, I found that if I have to repeatedly say something in regards to my goals, that I am the problem so I find a different route to fix it. The problem I see is when people start working towards a goal but STOP and become repetitive towards their goals.
So how about we do this..
Let’s stick to the path that leads to our goals, no matter how bumpy it may be. It will not be easy, and changing habits will be a pain in the rear to work through. But if we keep pushing forward, maybe we as a people will not feel inclined to post the cliche statuses at the end of the year.
We can all do that right?
